If everyone\u2019s an entrepreneur, who\u2019s going to do all the other stuff haha!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy name is Jacob and I live in Campbeltown, 1 hour south of Sydney CBD. Growing up in Campbeltown, definitely had an impact on my ambitions to start my own company (Unicorn Shift).\u00a0 Growing\u00a0 up\u00a0 in\u00a0 Campbeltown,\u00a0 there\u00a0 was\u00a0 a\u00a0 lot\u00a0 of\u00a0 unemployment\u00a0 and\u00a0 a\u00a0 lot\u00a0 of impoverished\u00a0 areas\u00a0 with\u00a0 people\u00a0 who\u00a0 are\u00a0 struggling\u00a0 to\u00a0 get\u00a0 by.\u00a0 One\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 ways\u00a0 out\u00a0 was\u00a0 to become a traffic controller. A two-day TAFE course could be done and then people could be employed as official and certified traffic control officers. People who were unemployed 2 days ago, could now earn two thousand dollars a week. This created a great opportunity for the local community. I identified this and saw that there was a resource allocation problem. There was also the issue that people who were working as traffic controllers were constantly on call and had\u00a0 a\u00a0 very\u00a0 limited\u00a0 social\u00a0 life.\u00a0 Generally,\u00a0 the\u00a0 nature\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 construction\u00a0 industry\u00a0 meant\u00a0 that controllers were constantly on demand and on call. I created my business around that gap in the market. With Unicorn Shift, employees could now register and pick when they wanted to work.\u00a0 Giving the\u00a0 freedom\u00a0 the\u00a0 worker\u00a0 was\u00a0 important,\u00a0 and\u00a0 creating\u00a0 an\u00a0 easy\u00a0 platform for individuals to get work is rewarding and has turned into a successful business.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see the point of teaching entrepreneurship; I feel like entrepreneurs are often products of their environments. My co-founder was always the grinder, he had the lemonade stand as a kid and was always running the different schemes in school. I guess I have always tried to start new businesses, there\u2019s great achievement in that\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing an entrepreneur is like bring a DJ, people discredit them. I want to establish myself as a real CEO. Someone who started a business or system, which created value and sustained it. I always want to be there in the end and be with the company. We are experiencing some growth now,\u00a0 and\u00a0 I\u00a0 want\u00a0 to\u00a0 expand\u00a0 from\u00a0 the\u00a0 human\u00a0 resources\u00a0 market\u00a0 into\u00a0 the\u00a0 construction\u00a0 and consulting\u00a0 industry\u00a0 as\u00a0 a\u00a0 whole.\u00a0 Our\u00a0 aim\u00a0 at\u00a0 unicorn\u00a0 shift\u00a0 is\u00a0 to\u00a0 be\u00a0 a\u00a0 one\u00a0 stop\u00a0 shop\u00a0 for\u00a0 traffic management control.\u201d<\/p>\n
